Video Tutorial

Install the Slack integration on your Feedbucket project

  1. Go to your project and then click the tab Integrations.
  2. On the integrations page click the button Connect next to Slack.

  1. If this is the first time you are connecting Feedbucket and Slack you will be redirected to Slack where you have to allow Feedbucket. Select the workspace that you want to integrate Feedbucket with. As you see under the permissions we need permissions to read about channels and conversations so we can see which channels you have. We also need to be able to perform actions there to add messages.

  1. You will now see a green bar on the Slack integration that indicates that the connection is made. The settings should have opened automatically but in case it doesn't, click on the Settings button to start configuring the Slack connection for this project.

Configure the Slack integration to your needs

  1. First, select the channel you want Feedbucket to send to. If you need to send to a private channel please check the info below.

If you want to connect Feedbucket to a private channel the Feedbucket Slack App needs to be invited to that private channel. You can invite by going to your channel and type /invite @Feedbucket. Refresh the page and the private channel should show up in your list now.

  1. Select if you want Feedbucket to send the events New comment createdfeedback resolved, and feedback re-opened as a thread under the initial feedback entry or to just send it to the selected channel.

How to use the Slack integration

Once you have configured everything as you wish, below is how the integration should behave.

When new feedback is created

Whenever a new piece of feedback is created in Feedbucket, a message will be created in your Slack channel. This message will be sent to the channel that you selected in step #1 above. The message will automatically have all of the technical details that Feedbucket collected like the session information of the reporter, the screenshot/recording etc.

When a new comment is created on a feedback

A piece of feedback can have many comments as a thread to communicate and collaborate. When a new comment is created on a piece of feedback that has been created in Slack, we will send that through as well. If you have selected that you want comments threaded in Step #2 during the configuration we will send the new comment as a message in a thread under the initial feedback.

If you have selected to not have the comments threaded we will just push this comment as a Slack message in the channel selected in step #1.

We highly recommend using the threaded option in step #2. It becomes a lot cleaner in your Slack if events on a feedback is pushed in the correct thread. Just make sure that you have notifications set up properly so you don't miss anything.

When the feedback is resolved

If you have selected to use threaded comments under each feedback in Step #2 from the configuration we will send a message as a thread under the initial feedback when it's resolved.

If not threaded, we will just send this message in the channel selected under Step #1.

When the feedback is re-opened

If you have selected to use threaded comments under each feedback in Step #2 from the configuration we will send a message as a thread under the initial feedback when it's re-opened.

If not threaded, we will just send this message in the channel selected under Step #1.

How to disconnect the Slack integration

When the integration for Slack is active you will see a button for Disconnect. Click this to disconnect your integration.
