Main differences between Feedbucket and other feedback tools
In this article, we will take a look at the main differences between Feedbucket and other feedback tools such as Bugherd, MarkUp.io, Marker.io, etc.
We will also analyze why we chose a different direction for many of the features, and how to actually use the tool for simpler accessibility.
Summary of differences
- Mobile feedback is submitted on the actual mobile device
- Organizing feedback with simple layouts and filters
Mobile feedback is submitted on the actual mobile device
A question that you may have is how Feedbucket handles feedback coming from mobile devices. Some other tools like MarkUp.io allow your clients switch between desktop, tablet and mobile when submitting feedback, through something called "proxy solution". At Feedbucket, we do not do that, we have a different approach.
Since the Feedbucket widget is installed via a script tag on your website, you can simply head over to the website on any device you want, and you will be able to submit feedback right away. This is something that is not possible with many other tools, where feedback can only be submitted from a desktop.
This makes it so that your feedback is even more accurate, because it will come from a real mobile device, and not an emulated version from a desktop (which can be quite a different experience in terms of rendering).
Simply tell your clients to visit your staging website from their mobile device, and to start submitting their feedback right away.
We chose this approach to really make it easy for your clients to submit feedback, wherever they are, with no login or any setup required.
Organizing feedback with simple layouts and filters
Sometimes we get questions as to why Feedbucket does not offer a way to organize feedback via a Kanban board or with different task statuses like tools such as Bugherd and Marker.io do.
The reason for this choice is that we want to keep Feedbucket as simple as possible, and encourage teams to connect with another project management tool that will have that way of organizing feedback and tasks, thanks to our two-way sync integrations.
We do not want, then, to build Feedbucket as if it was simply another PM tool, since such integrations already exist (see the complete list here) and feedback organization via layouts like a Kanban board are just a login away.
