How to submit feedback using video recording
With Feedbucket installed you can submit feedback using a video recording directly on the page without having to install any third-party plugins or extensions. Videos are perfect for when the bug is a bit harder to explain using a screenshot.
How to record a video
- Open the record video module by clicking on the camera icon in the Feedbucket toolbar
- Click on the button "Start recording" in the toolbar that shows up on the top of the screen
- You should now see a pop-up like below. You might see this in a new tab depending on how your browser is configured. Click on the button to allow screenshare to open up the browsers native pop-up about sharing your screen.

- Allow screenshare from the browsers native window. This will look differently depending on what browser you are using.
- After you have accepted screenshare (and optionally your microphone) you should automatically be redirected back to the website with Feedbucket installed. You will now be presented with a countdown from 3 to 1. After the countdown is finished the recording will start.
- Now when you are back at the website you should see a recording happening and a countdown going from 3-0. At the top you have controls for pausing and resuming the recording.
- When you are done recording, click on the
Stop recordingbutton. - Preview your video. If you are happy with the recording you can add a title, and optionally a description and attachments, and click on the
Submitbutton. If you are not happy with the recording you can click on theCancelbutton.
Requirements & Known Issues
- HTTPS is required by most browsers to share your screen and microphone.
- Recording feedback does **not **work on a mobile device. The reason is because mobile devices do not allow for screenshare like desktop do.
- On Firefox, you won't be automatically redirected back to the website where Feedbucket is installed (as described in #6). Please just do it manually and make sure to keep the pop-up window open.
- If you record a video in Chrome or Firefox they might not be able to be played back to you in Safari. If you can't play back a video try to open it in Chrome.
